Penshurst Duplex Build
Sharyn and Greg approached us with plans to knock their family home down to build their dream home. With a 22-metre frontage, they decided to split the block into 14m and 6m lots.
The 14m block now hosts our clients dream home with 5 bedrooms, 2 living spaces, 2.5 bathrooms, a double garage, and a pool. Whilst the 6m wide block hosts a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathrooms, with an additional living/4th bedroom. Despite their similar facades, the duplexes are uniquely different from each other due to their layouts, flooring, kitchen design, and of course the pool.
With the brief to create quiet homes, a concrete structure, double brick, brick veneer and fully insulated internal/external walls were implemented to prevent noise travelling throughout and between the homes.
To ensure that future buyers wouldn’t be deterred by the narrow width of the 6-metre block, a split-level design with a ceiling height of 3.3 metres created a feeling of openness and space throughout the home. This smaller lot is a dream purchase for any small family or couple with just a 10-minute walk to the train station, and a fully fenced and landscaped lawn.
